Britax B-Agile Stroller Review
“I didn’t realize how uncomfortable our old stroller was until we got the Britax B-Agile.”
This may sound a little strange, but this Britax B-Agile Stroller actually has had a lot to do with changing my life for the better. This past March, my husband decided he wanted a divorce and he moved several states away, leaving me as a single mom to our then eight month old daughter. I took a job offer in a new town about three hundred miles from where we had been living, so I didn’t know anyone. When my mom came to visit us about two months ago, she was really concerned that I had put on about twenty pounds, between the stress of the divorce and just being stuck at home in a new place.
At the time, I just had an umbrella stroller for my little girl and one of the wheels was coming loose, so we went shopping for a new one. I was just going to get another umbrella stroller, but Mom, who’s a personal trainer, saw the Britax B-Agile and offered to split the cost with me if I would get it. She thought it would be great to use to take my daughter to the city park in our neighborhood and go on the walking trail. I finally agreed, and I am so happy that I did. It may sound corny, but it has helped us adjust to a new town, make a few very nice friends and even helped me lose eight pounds so far.
Really Great Stroller for Getting Out
Our old umbrella stroller was okay for going to the mall or other short errands, but it wasn’t a very comfortable stroller for me or for my daughter when it came to a smooth ride or steering. The Britax B-Agile, with the two smaller wheels in front, is so easy to maneuver, especially on sidewalks, curbs and slightly bumpy surfaces like the walking trail. We started going to the park the weekend we got the Britax B-Agile, and we’ve gone every day after work since then.
Some parts of the walking trail are cracked or uneven, even though it’s paved, but the Britax B-Agile is still able to maneuver smoothly and the suspension is awesome, even on the really uneven parts of the trail. My daughter is really comfortable in it, too. The seat reclines all the way back if she wants to take a nap, but she rarely does. The canopy has a big mesh window that gives her a great view of the squirrels and the other kids. She also has a window in the roof, so she can see me.
Another thing that really helps with comfort is the stroller handle. It’s really nicely padded with a foam covering, which I love. Even on a nearly two-mile circuit of the walking trail, plus the four blocks to and from our house, my hands don’t get sore from pushing the stroller. I didn’t realize how uncomfortable our old stroller was until we got the Britax B-Agile.
The Britax B-Agile Really Changed our Quality of Life
The best thing about the Britax B-Agile is that it got us out to the park, where we have made some great new friends and I have gotten some exercise again. Within just a few days of starting to go to the park, we met other parents and babies from our neighborhood. A couple of them we met simply because of their interest in the stroller. Since the Britax B-Agile is new, they wanted to know what kind of stroller it was and where we got it.
We have been going to the trail every day and usually go to the playground a few times a week and have made several friends. I’ve also lost eight pounds so far and am feeling better about myself than I have since my divorce. It may sound strange to credit a stroller with this progress, but I’m sure that without the Britax B-Agile, we would likely still be stuck hanging out at home in the backyard instead of out getting exercise and meeting our neighbors. It has helped make us feel more at home and part of our new neighborhood.
Lots of Great Extra Features for the Money
I wouldn’t even have looked at the Britax B-Agile if my Mom hadn’t pointed it out and offered to pay half. It was a little over $220 on sale, and I would never have been able to afford it on my own at the time, since moving had cost quite a bit. I would gladly pay the whole cost now, if I were still in the market for a stroller.
There are a lot of features and extras that make the Britax B-Agile so worth every dime.
If you want the whole travel system package you must try the Britax B-Safe as well.
We bought the adapter that is available separately, so that I could just plop my daughter’s car seat into the stroller. I love this ability, because she’s not walking yet and it really helps to not have to get her out of her car seat harness and buckle her into the stroller harness. I can just lift her car seat out of the base, snap it into the stroller and go. This has really come in handy when she falls asleep in the car on the way to the mall or church. I don’t even have to wake her up to get her where we’re going.
The storage compartment in the Britax B-Agile is awesome, too. We always have her lovey and a water bottle and maybe a few snacks when we go to the park and the storage is more than adequate, but we’ve also gone to the farmer’s market in this stroller and I’ve been able to fit most of our purchases down below, instead of having to hang the bags on my wrist, which gets old really quickly.
I am still getting lots of comments and questions about the Britax B-Agile, since a lot of people haven’t seen one yet, and I always give it a huge recommendation. It really has been such a huge help in adjusting to our new lives.
Where can I buy The Britax B-Agile?
We got ours at the local baby superstore for a little over $220 as an introductory sales price, but I’ve seen a discount as well on this Amazon page —> Britax B-Agile and other online stores for between $200 and $220. It’s worth every bit of it.
